The NFHS has tallied votes from the first round of five topic choices, with Income Inequality and Surveillance selected as the favorites (which also were Wisconsin’s top two choices).
Wisconsin debate coaches may now review those topics and vote online, from: http://www.whsfa.org/debate/news-information/87-proposed-policy-debate-topic-areas-2015-16. Schools must vote by 5 p.m. December 17, and only one vote per school.
Additionally, National Speech and Debate Association members (students and coaches) can submit their choice for the December topic. The December topic area is “Criminal Justice,” and the resolution choices are:
Choice 1 – Resolved: The United States Department of Defense should discontinue the transfer of surplus military equipment to civilian police forces.
Choice 2 – Resolved: For-profit prisons in the United States should be banned.

Voting ends next Friday, October 31, at 4 p.m. CT.
